A Fine Quality Monumental Sèvres Ormolu-mounted Painted Porcelain Vase and Cover
Sèvres Antique Porcelain
A Stunning monumental pair of Cobalt blue ground painted Sèvres porcelain vase and cover signed ‘H. Deprez.’
The paintings on the bodies of the vases are identical continuous paintings, depicting royal court members enjoying the lush grounds surrounding the palace. Multiple figure groupings of two's and three's scatter the grounds, some members mingle while others ride in sedan chairs being brought to the palace entrance. Ruins of fallen corinthian columns dapple the grounds. The necks are painted ‘bleu lapis’ and are finely parcel gilt with stylized foliage. The lids are crowned by gilt bronze (ormolu) pinecone finials and the feet are edged with guilt bronze beading.
