A Very Important "Table De Salon" or "Table des Muses" Attributed to Alfred Beurdeley
An amarante, satine, burr, stained and fruitwood marquetry on sycamore veneers with one frieze drawer. Inlaid marquetry wood designs of two female figures representing mythological figures of Urania and Calliope, with respective implements of astronomy and poetry. This is a copy of the table supplied in 1771 for King Louis XVI's garde meuble. The original is now in the permanent collection of the Musée de Versailles.
