Johann Berthelsen "Winter in Washington Square Park NY"

Oil on canvas painting titled "Winter in Washington Square, New York" depicting a peaceful snowy 1952 day in the one of the city's most beloved parks. The composition in bathed in a white haze as heavy snow collects on the sidewalks, signs and trees. Small figures of New Yorker's attempt to wade through the growing blanket of snow in the park. The Washington Square's iconic triumphal arch can be seen in the mid ground of the painting, with soft silhouettes of the city's skyscrapers beyond.
