Ferdinand Barbedienne Antique Bronze
A patinated bronze model of the Warwick vase with Bacchic ornament by the Barbedienne foundry. Modeled after the celebrated ancient Roman marble vase, discovered in fragments in 1771 in the ruins of Hardian's villa near Tivoli by the Scottish artist and antiquary, William Hamilton. After restoration, it was sold to Hamilton's nephew, George, Early of Warwick and is now in the Burrell collection in Glasgow.
This pair is surmounted on fluted bases with octagonal stylobate.
