The sculptor Gustave-Joseph Chéret trained under Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, whose daughter he married. After Carrier-Belleuse's death, Chéret took over as a member of the artistic management of the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres. After Chéret's death, his works were exhibited at the École des Beaux Arts and then dispersed at the Hôtel Drouot in December 1894.
