This exquisite pair of rare Louis XV-style guéridon dates to the early 20th century and reflects the exceptional craftsmanship of renowned French cabinetmaker, François Linke (1855-1946). The table's circular marble top provides a neutral backdrop for its ornately decorative base, beautifully executed in kingwood, tulipwood and gilt-bronze ormolu mounts.

The parquetry work on the table's concave-sided platform base features Linke's characteristic high quality and intricate geometric and floral marquetry patterns incorporating various rare woods. Elaborate, cast ormolu mounts with whimsical asymmetrical designs depicting scrolls, acanthus leaves, shells and floral swags border the base. Curving cabriole legs with additional finely chased mounts end in scrolled feet.

The table encapsulates both Linke's mastery of 18th century revival styles as well as his legendary exacting standards. A true objet d'art, it would make a magnificent addition to any museum collection of French decorative arts.
