Guillaume Deniere

(French, 1815-1903)

This darling bronze of a group of Bacchic Putti playing with a Goat by Denière (1815-1901), takes inspiration from a figural statue by Claude Michel Clodion. The playful Allegory of Autumn grouping was first painted by François Boucher in 1730 and became wildly popular upon exhibition, spurring many artists such as Clodion and Dernière to render the subject matter into their own style and medium.
