Perhaps inspired by Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, this Orientalist portrait of a young woman is depicts an eastern lady donning an incredible demi parure jewelry set that showcasing multiple drop pearls, cabochon garnets and turquoise inlay. Drop pearls were amongst the most rare expensive gems of the time period. a stark contrast from the simple and light woven clothing she wears.
