This Egyptian desert scene An Oasis in the Desert depicts a group of a people pitching a tent near a cluster of palm trees in view of the Ancient Egyptian Pyramids. Painted in large gestural strokes, Alott skillfully emulates the desert haze in oil paint. Formerly belonging to the Brooklyn Museum, it is undoubtedly unique. The light blue of the sky beautifully contrasts with the yellows and oranges of the desert and figure grouping below. Alott's attention to detail shines when examining the robes of the people and their animals.
