A fine patinated bronze figure of a Berber and his hunting falcon with a hare on its feet.
Pierre Jules Mene (1810 – 1877) was born in Paris, France on March 25th 1810. A prolific animal sculptor of his time. His father, a successful metal turner taught Pierre to work with metals and the principles of casting, at a young age. Mene had established the first of his many foundries in 1837, where he would cast all of his own bronzes throughout his successful career.
