A French Ormolu Mounted Bacchus Desk with Bureau Parquetry all in Tulipwood

A dark brown leather top with gilt tooled floral ornamentation. Flanked by two incredibly crisp ormolu Bacchus (The God of Wine) masks. Bacchus is one of the most recognizable of the gods due to the grapes which are always depicted entangled in his hair. The desk contains six drawers, three functional and three decorative, with symmetrical handles casted in the shape of as two fish sharing a tasty pomegranate. Bureau Parquetry decorates all four faces of the piece, framed by ormolu as well. Exquisite foliate ormolu corner mounts protect the corners, while the curved cabriole legs end in plump lion's paws. Comes with a glass top cut perfectly, to protect the soft leather.
