A Fine Orientalist Painting of Two Women in a Harem by Stiepevich
Vincent G. Stiepevich (Russian, 1841-1910)
An eastern beauty reclines against the wall of an interior space in an ornately decorated islamic home, containing beautiful examples of islamic archetectual ornamentation incruding calligraphic abstraction and tilework. She dons a sheer black veil and a shirt in the same fabric, along with a headpiece with gold coins, a heavily beaded collar necklace, silver arm bands and a bright red skirt with golden trim. She stands beside a small interior fountain with a group of multicolored pigeons before her.
