Royal Vienna Portrait Plate of Madame de Pompadour

An exquisite hand painted portrait plate of a Madame de Pompadour titled Pompadour by the Royal Vienna porcelain workshop. The brim is a deep burgundy with opaline glaze, ornamented with gold painted quatrefoils with white backgrounds that frame raised gold painted still lifes of musical instruments. Clusters of jeweled turquoise pearls frame the central figure alone with raised gold florals, scroll forms and foliage. Madame de Pompadour is posed in a library, studying sheet music wearing typical 18th century dress. Blue royal vienna beehive mark on the back.
